Disparities in Pain — Pain and Gender

Inequality in health care exists across all groups of people in the United States. Races, cultures, socio-economic groups, and age groups do not receive equal medical treatment or have access to equal health care. This unequal treatment is called a disparity. Over the next five months, the National Pain Foundation will present a pain disparity series focusing on a different group of people affected by differences in pain perception, treatment, and/or access. No Pain, No Gain — Have you ever Heard of Prolotherapy?

As a person living with chronic pain, Tracy has tried various treatments from non-invasive to invasive to relieve her pain. When her doctor mentioned, prolotherapy, she had to step back and take a long, slow breath and think about the possible benefits. After researching the therapy and careful consideration, Tracy now says that prolotherapy, as a part of a multidisciplinary approach to her pain, has helped give her back some quality of life!
