Complementary Medicine
Some patients seek alternative or complementary medicines for the treatment of neuropathic pain. Acupuncture is a minimally-invasive technique which is based in Eastern medicine theory. Although pain relief is not universal with acupuncture, it may be a useful alternative to medications for some patients. Herbal remedies are widely available, but, unfortunately, do not have wide acceptance among many practitioners. Patients are advised to carefully review any herbal remedies they may be considering with their health care provider. Always tell your health care provider about any herbal remedies or supplements you are thinking about taking or are taking. For more information on complementary therapies,
